Wear and care info
We use high-quality vegan leathers and suedes to make our footwear. You should find your purchase requires little attention to keep looking as good as new.Our vegan footwear does not spoil or stain when it gets wet. It performs well in wet and muddy conditions. Unlike leather or suede, our materials do not spoil or mark even when in contact with road salt and snow slush in winter. Our footwear is easy to clean. Here are some general cleaning instructions:Vegan leather uppersClean the uppers and outsoles with warm soapy water and a cloth or brush. Dry down thoroughly with a towel.Polish can be used to bring out a shine and return the colour. Any synthetic product should work just fine. Apply as described in the instructions. If your footwear has a burnished effect on the toes and sides (we apply a darker polish to some of our brown vegan leather uppers for effect) this is best reapplied by a cobbler or it can be done at home by using a darker shade of polish around the toes and sides of the footwear. You can treat the uppers with a waterproofing spray to improve durability, stain resistance and water resistance. We recommend doing this every 2-3 months with our waterproof products, depending on usage.Do not let your footwear stay damp between wears (especially inside the boots), as this can damage the water resistance and create an environment for microbes to develop in the footwear, which can cause a smell to develop. If this happens, thoroughly dry the footwear and use a footwear deodoriser until the smell stops. In extreme cases, you may need to wash out the insides of the footwear with warm soapy water. Once you have done this, thoroughly dry them out and apply the footwear deodoriser. You can dry your footwear directly on top of a radiator or near to another heat source. Depending on the heat source, it can take a few days to dry out the inside of our footwear completely.Do not wash in the washing machine.Vegan suede uppersWait until dry, then brush with a suede brush or something similar. You can clean with warm, soapy water and a cloth or brush for more extreme cases. Dry down the uppers with a towel. You should not expect water marks as the material does not mark or stain like conventional suede when wet.You can treat the uppers with a waterproofing spray to improve durability, stain resistance and water resistance. How long does your footwear wear last?
This is a difficult question as many factors can affect the lifespan of our footwear, such as how often they are worn and where they are worn (what sort of terrain). You should expect your purchase to last you at least 2-3 years; however, we have customers who have been wearing our products for +8 years. For your peace of mind, we offer assurance for all our customer's purchases. If you are not happy with your purchase at any point, let us know, and we will make a refund, send a replacement or make a repair.
Waterproof and stain protection treatment sprays for vegan suede and vegan leather
You can use some treatments on our footwear for extra protection. We recommend treating our waterproof products with a waterproof treatment depending on use every month. We also recommend keeping them dirt free, using a wet cloth to wipe them down.It is important to let your boots dry out between uses to protect the material, it is Ok to keep them close to a radiator to do this. You can also use most polishes if you wish to keep them looking "out the box" new. This is the current list of products we know work with the materials we use, however we would always recommend testing on a small area first. We are sorry this list is small right now, if you know of a product that has worked for you, please let us know.Collonil Organic Protector Spray Clarkes suede and nubuck protectorPunch Instant Protector Vegetarian Shoes Dubbin Kiwi Parade Gloss Shoe Polish Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof
I wear a half size do I size up or down?
If you are a half size and we don't sell your size, in most cases, we would recommend you order up to the next whole size if you are a regular or wider width fitting. For example, if you are a 6.5 order a 7.If you have a slim-width fitting we recommend you size down. For example, if you are a 6.5 order a 6.We find it is better if footwear is a little too large, as this is more comfortable than if its too small and pinches and rubs.As a guide for each whole size you go up, you gain 1cm length and 0.5cm width. If you are going to wear thick socks with your purchase we would always say size up so you have the extra space.
Why don't you make my size
We are sorry not all styles are available in our full-size range. We try to make our footwear in these sizes.Women's36-42Men's 40-48We would love always to provide a bigger size range (like we do for many of our styles) but sadly, it is not always possible for us to do so.We are sometimes limited to the sizes in which we can make a model due to the components available to us.We are not a large company and do not manufacture all components ourselves, so we depend on what our suppliers offer. For example, an outsole may only be available in 36 to 41, so we cannot offer 42 in that style. We try to make our clothing in these sizes:Women'sXS-XXLMen's XS-XXLWhen we introduce a new style in clothing, to start, we will do so in S & M in women's and M & L in men's. This is so we can be sure the style is what our customers are looking for before we commit to ordering a full-size run and holding more stock of the style. As soon as we know there is demand, we will order all sizes. Working to this process avoids manufacturing unnecessarily, which helps reduce our consumption. You can see a sizing chart for any product by clicking the Size Chart link above the Add to Cart button on the products page.
Can I get replacement laces?
If your laces have worn through or you think there is a quality issue, we will provide replacement laces free of charge or refund you for the cost of a new pair.
Do you have photos of your clothing being worn by models

This is something we are working on though, and we hope to introduce model photography for all our clothing and accessories by the end of 2023.Right now all of our clothing is shot in a few ways to try and communicate its look and fitFront and back photos using a "invisible" mannequinLaid flat Close up detail shotsWe encourage our customers to take photos wearing their purchase, and we re-post a lot of these @willsveganstore usually these photos on the products page on the website too.If you need to exchange get a refund on your purchase, we provide 365 days free returns and exchanges. Our returns service is paperless, carbon neutral and really quick. Water resistance of our footwear
Water resistant footwearUnless stated waterproof or otherwise, our footwear is water resistant. Our standard of water resistance is Ok for most weather through autumn and winter.Ok for:Extended periods of time in light rain, splashes, shallow puddles, wet grass, light snow and slush.Waterproof footwearSome of our footwear is waterproof, this will be clearly stated in the name of the product.Ok for:Deep snow, deep slush, deep puddles, running water, extended periods of heavy rain. We use high-quality vegan leathers and suedes to make our shoes, they require little attention to keep looking as good as new.Our footwear does not spoil or stain when it gets wet. In fact, it performs well in wet and muddy conditions. Unlike leather or suede, our materials do not spoil or mark even when in contact with road salt and snow slush in winter conditions. It is OK to wear our footwear in colder temperatures. However, unless stated, our products are not insulated. We recommend wearing a thick insulating sock to keep your feet warm in freezing temperatures, or you may get cold feet.
What are your insoles like, can your insoles be removed?
We use good quality insoles made with recycled materials that are deep, squishy and comfy to walk on. They use memory foam and open cell technology, so they do not crush down and keep their shape over time. The insoles in our footwear cannot usually be removed easily unless they are from our WVSport collection which are easily removable. For all other products, we glue and sometimes also stitch them in. Without this, we found they can slip out when you remove your foot, which can be annoying. If you need to use an orthotic insole, insert or need to swap the insole over for any other reason, we suggest trying this with your usual size, by laying the insole or insert on top of the current insole. Inserts usually will not affect the sizing of your footwear and are a good way to get arch support with our existing insoles. Please note laying an insole on top of the existing insole will change the volume of the item depending on the new insole depth. In some cases, especially if you have a wider foot width you may need to size up, so there is enough internal volume for your feet.
Why do some of your products cost more?
We don’t believe in doing something to protect animals whilst harming humans. If you don't pay the price, often it is the worker that is paying it for youWe are all animals, we all need safeguarding, and we need to safeguard the planet we share. We produce our products in Italy & Portugal under EU Law.Our workers have rights that cover:Working hours, time off & annual leaveEqual payMaternityParental leaveAnti-discriminationCompensation for discrimination victimsAgency worker protectionHealth and safetyThis, alongside the quality of construction and materials, is why Will’s Vegan Shoes cost more than a pair of accidentally vegan shoes. There is always a story behind a low price. In addition, we are investing in reducing our environmental impact on this planet and making our business more sustainable.
What construction method are your shoes made with?
We use four types of footwear construction methods:Mounted constructionMost of our footwear is made from mounted construction, unless otherwise stated please assume that this is the construction method..The uppers are bonded to the outsoles with a strong vegan glue.We do not stitch the outsoles to the uppers (they are not Blake or strobel construction)This means that it is harder to replace the outsoles though it is possible to do so on some models depending on the style cobbler you take them to. Sometimes it is not possible to replace an outsole because of the style. It is best to check directly with your local cobbler to see if this is something they can do.Goodyear Welted If one of our models is made from Goodyear Welt construction we will state this in its name and provide information in the product description.Because of the construction method, all of our Goodyear Welted styles can have their outsoles easily replaced. You can easily re-sole our Goodyear welted models at any good cobbler. They are made using a solid rubber outsole, a commonly stocked item. You can use the filter on the category page to see just Goodyear models, or type Goodyear into the search box.Injection moulded Most of our WVSport models are made from injection moulded construction. This means the outsoles are welded onto the uppers, creating a very strong bond. Some companies will help you resole and repair sports shoes If you are in the UK please try https://lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk/ Strobel constructionStrobel is used for most athletic shoes as it allows more flexibility and is lighter weight. You will see it in some of our WVSport trainers, The upper on a Strobel shoe is sewn to a fabric bottom making a sock.A special Strobel machine is then used to stitch together the uppers and the bottom using a Strobel stitch.

Does your footwear have arch or in step support?
We are really sorry we do not design our footwear to have an arch or in step support. On many of our models, our insoles are made from a sheet of recycled foam which is cut to size. They are not shaped or moulded to the contours of your feet.On some of our sneakers and our WVSport collection, you will find that they are more moulded, like a sports insole however they are not adequate if you require more than a general level of arch support. We would recommend inserting an insole or arch support / in-step support insert into our footwear if you have a specific requirement. You cannot remove our insoles apart from in our WVSport collection so bear this in mind when choosing your size, as you may need to size up.You should find there is room to add a supportive insert into our models. Adding an extra insole on top of the current one will affect the sizing and may mean you need to size up to accommodate it.If you would like to try anything out to see how supportive they are for you we provide free returns & exchanges for 365 days to most countries. We can only accept returns back if they have no visible wear marks, we suggest trying out any purchase inside first to be sure they are the right fit.Our returns service is paperless, carbon neutral and really quick.
What are your vegan leather jackets made from
The vegan leather we use for our jackets is made from polyurethane (PU).The linings are made from viscose. The labels and other details are made from cotton and recycled polyester. We source the materials and components for our clothing as locally to our factory as possible, so they mostly come from Italy. Otherwise, they will come from other places in the EU, for example, the Netherlands, for our vegan recycled fur.Our vegan leather jackets are wrapped in delivered in biodegradable packaging.
Will the WVSport Active Sandals be made in more sizes?
We are really sorry the WVSport Active Sandals are only available up to a EU39 to EU42 in women's sizing and not in larger sizes. We would love to provide these in a bigger size range (like we do for a lot of our styles), but sadly it is not possible for us to do so right now.We are sometimes limited to the sizes we can make a model in due to the components available to us.We are not a large company and do not manufacture all of the components ourselves, so are dependent on what our suppliers offer. In this case, Vibram only make this outsole down to an EU39.
My WVSport Waterproof Hiking boots are letting in water
We have had a few reports from our customers of our WVSport Waterproof Hiking boots not being waterproof - and letting in water during normal activity such as walking in wet grass, walking in snow, and walking through streams. We are looking into this, as every test we run to assess their performance comes back as a pass. This includes being submerged for hours on multiple cycles of movement simulation (we test all our WVSport models exhaustively in our development centre in Italy). These are very popular boots, and we get a lot of great feedback from customers, and most people do not report this issue. However, if you do have a problem, please let us know, and we will always refund or replace your purchase. We recommend applying a waterproof treatment to your boots, depending on your use every few months. We also recommend keeping them dirt free, using a wet cloth to wipe them down.It is important to let your boots dry out between uses to protect the material. It is Ok to keep them close to a radiator to do this. You can also use most polishes if you wish to keep them looking "out the box" new. This is the current list of products we know work with the materials we use. However, we would always recommend testing on a small area first. We have not had a report of any product not working with our footwear, so you should be Ok with other products. If you let us know about another product that works well for you we can add it to this list.Collonil Organic Protector Spray Clarkes suede and nubuck protectorPunch Instant Protector Vegetarian Shoes Dubbin Kiwi Parade Gloss Shoe Polish Nikwax Fabric & Leather Proof
My Dock Boots have a split in the outsole
You may notice on the outsoles of our Dock Boots there is a split at the top, usually on the inside of the boot. This is not a fault with the boots, it is part of the design. Usually, on a pair of non-vegan boots, this area is made from compressed leather and forms a smooth line around the boots.Currently, we use either rubber or TR (synthetic rubber) to make this area of the boot. It cannot be sealed together, and there is always a line where the two ends of the strip meet. It is just a sign that your boots are vegan that they have this feature. It is not a structural issue or something to be concerned about.
Does your footwear breathe, will I get sweaty feet?
You should find that our footwear breathes and is comfortable to wear. Our footwear is made with breathable vegan leather uppers and linings. Our footwear is superior to lower price accidentally vegan shoes on the high street made with cheaper materials that often will not breathe well.
What is your footwear made from?
Most of our footwear and accessories are made from bio-based vegan leather made from plants (cereal crops). The latest version we have developed contains 69% bio-oil and has a viscose (a natural material from eucalyptus trees) backing material. However, this material still has 31% polyurethane in its composition, so there is still some plastic. Because of the nature of the material, it is not biodegradable. Our Oeko Tex and REACH-compliant materials, such as our vegan suede, are made from 100% polyurethane, so some work is needed. None of our products uses PVC or PFCs.The rest of our vegan leather and all our vegan suede materials are made from 100% polyurethane. We source the materials and components for our clothing as locally to our factory as possible, so they mostly come from Italy. Otherwise, they will come from other places in the EU, for example, the Netherlands, for our vegan recycled fur.Sadly, right now, there is no vegan leather or suede out there that is made from natural materials. Even materials such as Pinatex, apple, or mushroom leather have a polyurethane coating. We are working hard at increasing the number of natural materials that we use. For example, we recently introduced our fully biodegradable LDN Sneakers, which have been over a year in the making, working with leading shoe component manufacturers across Europe to create one of the most sustainable shoes on the planet. It’s not been an easy journey. Many solutions we’ve developed to create a pair of fully biodegradable sneakers have not been seen before. These sneakers are literally at the cutting edge of sustainable footwear. We're putting the lessons learned from the development of these sneakers into other models, such as the linings, insoles and outsoles. We hope to introduce more models soon, giving a natural alternative for all our key models. We are constantly researching and looking out for new developments across the globe and hope over time, and technology will provide us with more breakthroughs.

You will find the men's fit a little wider with more volume than the women's.For your peace of mind if you need to exchange get a refund on your purchase, we provide 365 days free returns and exchanges in most countries. Our returns service is paperless, carbon neutral and really quick. Does the material stretch that you use in your footwear?
We use high-quality vegan leathers and suedes to make our footwear. They are created from a very fine weave of individual fibres. These fibres mean the material can stretch and mould to your foot shape. The material will soften with wear.If they are tight and pinch a lot and are uncomfortable to wear in most cases it is better to size up. It is better to have footwear that is just a little too big than too small as this can hurt and damage your feet. If your purchase is just a little too small, it can be worthwhile to wear them and "break them in" so the material softens and the mould around the shape of your feet. You will be able to get a little more room by applying pressure on the material over a few days.During this period we recommend wearing a thicker sock and applying pasters to any sore or rub points. You can also take your footwear to a cobbler to stretch.
Why don't you provide a pre-order service
We are really sorry we don't give the option to place pre-orders or hold items until they come back into stock. The main reason for this is we're the manufacturer (we have to make all our products from scratch, we cannot call off stock from a warehouse)This means that sometimes due to the nature of manufacturing (especially in these times) deliveries can arrive much later than expected. This is not common but does happen, there are so many things that can delay a delivery by a few weeks or more from the boxes not arriving on time, to any of the components like outsoles, laces, uppers to issues with the shipment from Portugal or Italy to our distribution centre in the UK.Because of this we prefer not to hold onto any payments if we don't have the stock in our warehouse to ship out straight away.We really appreciate this is frustrating, and it would be easier if we did this, it is just that we don't want to hold onto your money, or create stress if we have your money and there's a delay.
What is the difference between the Luxe Chelsea Boots, Chelsea boots and Waterproof Chelsea Boots
Our Deep Tread and Smart Luxe Chelsea Boots and Chelsea Boots are based around the same concept of a classic Chelsea Boot however there are a few difference between them apart from the priceOur Chelsea Boots launched 2013. They were given an update in 2017, as the original model was still popular and provides a slim / regular width fitting (vs the regular width fitting of the Luxe version) we kept it and introduced the new Luxe Chelsea Boot option. Updates you will find in the Luxe Chelsea Boots (both the Deep Tread and Smart versions):The uppers have been cut to a regular width fitting with a comfy rounded toe shape (the regular Chelsea Boots have a slim / regular width fitting). There is no stitching on the front creating a smooth, clean silhouette. The boot opening comfortably hugs the ankle producing a smart clean line with no gap.We have lined it with two types of super soft vegan suede, creating not only a lovely place to nestle your foot but allowing air to circulate helping it stay cool.A discrete WVS is embossed on the outsole to finish. Our Waterproof Chelsea Boots are similar to the Luxe Chelsea Boots in terms of styling and fit. The outsole is a little different, it is a sheet of solid rubber with grip marks on the underside so traction is really sturdy. The main difference with these boots is they are 100% waterproof which means you can wear them in flowing water, heavy rain and snow. You can see more about our water resistance levels here.
Can I get my footwear repaired
Right now, we do not offer any repairs for our footwear. We have found that most cobblers can work repairing our footwear.Parts of a shoe you can get replaced include:OutsoleMost of our footwear is made from mounted construction. This means that it is harder to replace the outsoles though it is possible to do so on some models depending on the style cobbler you take them to. Sometimes it is not possible to replace an outsole because of the style. It is best to check directly with your local cobbler to see if this is something they can do.Sometimes an outsole can be repaired by having a patch applied to it, to cover any wearing or damage.Heel caps can also be applied (for example, with court shoes or dress shoes)All of our Goodyear Welted styles can have their outsoles easily replaced. You can easily re-sole our Goodyear welted models at any good cobbler. They are made using a solid rubber outsole which is a commonly stocked item. InsoleYou can only remove and replace the insoles on our WVSport products. On our other products our insoles cannot be removed or replaced, but you can overlay a new insole on top of the existing insole.LacesIf your laces have broken, we can provide free of charge replacements.WVSport modelsSome companies will help you resole and repair sports shoes If you are in the UK please try https://lancashiresportsrepairs.co.uk/ If you are experiencing a quality issue with your purchase that you are not happy with, please let us know so we can help you further. We will always refund, replace or try to repair your purchase at any point if you are not happy.
Can I wash my shoes in the washing machine?
You can wash a few of our styles in the washing machineThese include:Biodegradable sneakersEspadrille modelsModels with mesh uppersWash on a cool wash with a towel in the drum. To dry out, leave near a heat source, including on top of a radiator. We do not recommend washing any of our other models as it can damage them.
Do you make bespoke sizes and styles?
We are really sorry it is not possible to make our shoes in sizes beyond the ones we offer. This is usually because we cannot readily source the components to increase our size range. Our manufacturing process is not set up to make one-off bespoke or custom pieces. We are sorry we could not help you with this.
Footwear size charts, widths and measurements
Do your shoes size small, regular or large? Our footwear sizing, unless stated is regular so we recommend ordering your usual size.We try to make our footwear not too small or large, but size as you would expect. Most customers find our footwear has just a little more volume and width for comfort. We would recommend you order the usual size that you purchase from other brands. However, please note other brands may size small or large Vs our sizing, so bear this in mind when choosing your WVS size.Footwear measurementsWe provide a length chart for all our footwear.Just click the Sizing Chart link above the Add to Cart button on the products page. Our width fitting unless stated otherwise is D.If you are unsure about sizing or need any further information please let us know so we can help you further.Width fittingsOur width fitting unless stated otherwise is D.Most customers find our footwear has just a little more volume and width for comfort. If you are a wider fit you should find that you can wear our footwear comfortably, though in some cases you may need to size up. Sizing between modelsWe work hard to ensure the sizing is consistent between all our models with the same width fitting. For example, if you are an 8 in one style, you should be an 8 in all our styles. This makes it easy to shop online with us.I am in between sizesIf you are a half size and we don't sell your size, in most cases, we would recommend you order up to the next whole size if you are a regular or wider width fitting.

Will the WVSport Sequoia Edition Waterproof Hiking Boots be made available in larger sizes?
We are sorry the WVSport Sequoia Edition Waterproof Hiking Boots are only available up to an EU 42 and not in larger sizes. We would love to provide these in a bigger size range (like we do for a lot of our styles), but sadly it is not possible for us to do so right now.We are sometimes limited to the sizes we can make a model in due to the components available to us.We are not a large company and do not manufacture all of the components ourselves so are dependent on what our suppliers offer. In this case, Vibram only makes this outsole up to an EU 42 size, so we cannot go any higher.
Will the WVSport Snow Boots be made available in larger sizes?
We are really sorry the WVSport Snow Boots are only available up to an EU 41 size and not 42 or higher in men's sizes also.We would love to provide these in a bigger size range (like we do for a lot of our styles), but sadly, we can't do so right now.We are sometimes limited to the sizes we can make a model in due to the components available to us. We are not a large company and do not manufacture the components ourselves so we are dependent on what our suppliers offer. The outsoles on these boots are not available in a larger size than EU41, so we cannot make them any larger than this size.
